Corey Asbell, MS, PA-C, DFAAPA
Assistant Professor of Medical Science
Corey Asbell joined the College of Medical Science as an assistant professor in 2023. Previously, between 1999 and 2019, he served the rural community of Port Townsend, Washington, primarily as a primary care PA and later as chief medical information officer at Jefferson Healthcare, for which he designed and implemented systems supporting patient care, documentation and communication (2007-19).
He was previously an EMR project manager (2004-13) at the business and was a certified physician associate the duration of his employment in Port Townsend. Asbell also served on a physician advisory board with Allscripts (2006-11), an IT healthcare provider, and was a focus group member for the company for seven years. He also served on the board of directors (2014-21) and as chair (2016-17) for Discovery Behavioral Healthcare.
He earned a master’s degree in physician assistant practice from Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1999 and previously earned a bachelor’s degree in health science (pre-med) from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1996.
Asbell is married to Kristy, a fellow PA and an assistant professor at George Fox, and they have two daughters. He enjoys IT and exercise, along with spending time with his wife.
