Mary Oakes, MSN, RN, CHSE
Visiting Assistant Professor of Nursing, Simulation Manager
Mary Oakes was hired as a visiting assistant professor in 2022, joining the nursing department to provide nursing simulation and lab oversight. She joined the university full time after working as an adjunct clinical simulation and lab faculty member for the previous year and a half.
Her experience also includes working as an assistant professor at Concordia University in Portland (2018-20), serving as a simulation program manager at the University of Portland’s School of Nursing (2007-17), and holding several nursing positions at Tillamook County General Hospital in Tillamook (1995-2007).
Mary began her nursing career in the U.S. Army, for whom she served in a variety of Army Nurse Corps roles in both the U.S. and abroad between 1984 and 1989. She lives in Portland with her husband, Pat. They have two grown sons.
