Associate Professor of Counseling
I joined the George Fox University in 2025 as an associate professor of counseling and serve as the chair of the Graduate School of Counseling. Previously, I worked in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Western Seminary in Portland, where I served as program director (2023-25) and as an assistant professor (2022-25).
Before that, I was an assistant professor and clinical training supervisor (2020-22), an instructor (2019-20) and an adjunct faculty member (2018-19) in Multnomah University's Master of Arts in Counseling program. I have worked in the mental health field in since 2010, having started as an adolescent counselor in a residential treatment setting.
In 2014, I started a private practice, Ally Christian Counseling, where I worked primarily with high-conflict couples. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington, a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) through the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE).
My clinical and research interests include Adlerian psychotherapy, multicultural counseling, and mental health in Christian ministry. I hold a PhD in counselor education and supervision from the University of the Cumberlands, a master's degree in counseling from Multnomah University, and a bachelor's degree in Bible and theology from Multnomah Bible College.
I live in Longview, Washington, with my spouse and children. We attend Grace Bible Church in Kelso, Washington, where I am also a pastor. I was ordained in 2017 and have served in Christian ministry since 2005. I enjoy cycling and writing mental health poetry and spoken word.
