Program Overview

George Fox students may apply to study in Rome, Italy, for one semester in the Living and Learning program, designed for college students who desire to grow in their ability to integrate life and learning – to connect their walk with God to the realities of history and its impact on our lives, modern culture, and post-Christian influences in the world.

This program combines classroom learning, ministry, mission and practical experiences in a unique and challenging cross-cultural setting. Living and Learning also hosts a program in Quito, Ecuador.

Note: All courses are three credits.

You will have the opportunity to take field trips to monuments and museums throughout Rome, including the Roman Forum, Colosseum and Vatican City. In addition, academic guided tours are offered to Florence, Pompeii, Greece and Sicily. And two weeks of independent travel allow you the ability to travel on your own throughout Europe.

You will share a double room on the top floor of a four-story convent in the Pigneto neighborhood.

Program Fees & Eligibility

You pay your regular George Fox tuition and room and board and continue to receive all of your financial aid. Due to the high cost of some programs, an additional fee may be charged. You are responsible for round-trip airfare. There also may be an additional charge for a visa. The fee does include emergency travel insurance.

To apply, you must be a full-time undergraduate student with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Application Process

Applying to the program is a two-step process, requiring that you complete both a George Fox and external site application. Visit the Application Page to get specific details. Once you’ve completed the George Fox application, we will provide you with information to apply to the Rome, Italy, program.
