The Plant Services Safety Department is responsible for ensuring occupational safety and health across the entire campus. Safety training and administrative guidance is provided to all departments and employees to provide an injury-free work environment and comply with occupational safety and health regulations.

Safety Committee Minutes

Safety and Health programs:

  • Provide a wide range of training programs and ensure safe practices are followed
  • Provide active representation and consultation for the Safety Committee
  • Develop and maintain emergency operations plans for campus facilities
  • Provide consulting services for all campus departments regarding facility and program safety and health concerns
  • Manage chemical supply and disposal requirements
  • Coordinate fire drills and fire alarm response
  • Coordinate maintenance of all fire life safety systems
  • Coordinate maintenance of first aid supplies
  • Manage safety and environmental projects such as asbestos and heating-oil tank abatement
  • Monitor indoor air quality and manage system maintenance and programs

Administrative functions include:

  • Provide strategic guidance for the safety and health program
  • Develop and review all safety-related procedures
  • Manage safety budget
  • Provide primary contact with regulatory bodies regarding investigation and citations
  • Maintain records for safety training and documentation for all safety and health procedures
  • Follow new or changing regulatory requirements and apply as needed to current program
