Our Christian Vision

The Honors Program is a Christ-centered program for intellectual and spiritual formation. Our vision of Christian formation is best expressed by the two opening verses of Romans 12:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Be Transformed by the Past

We believe that the human desire to seek truth must be intentionally and continually directed toward God, who is the source and summit of all truth. Our students read the words of church fathers and reformers, mystics and monastics; these accounts enliven the life of faith.

Worship Christ in the Present

Christ is the invited and invisible guest at our seminar table. We view our shared intellectual work as a communal act of worship, because what we ultimately seek is not mere earthly success but a life lived in service of Christ. The honors community is not just an academic community; it is a community bonded by worship and prayer.

Discern Your Future

With hearts and minds directed toward God, our students are equipped to move forward, seeking God’s will as they proceed through the choices ahead.

Through our Christ-centered, historically grounded approach to education, we seek to shape students who conform themselves to truth rather than passing trends, whose ears are attuned to the still, small voice of God’s leading.
