Family Weekend 2021

You and your family are invited to be a part of Family Weekend! 

Join us on campus Oct. 22-24 for a weekend filled with some exciting events, including Family Game Night, theatre, and music performances, athletics home games, and a visit out to Hoffman Farms. Pick your own adventure and enjoy the time reconnecting with your student and letting them show you around town! It will be a fun-filled weekend your whole family can share. 

Online registration for Family Weekend is now closed. If you missed the registration date we still invite you to join us for Family Weekend 2021!

Please visit the check in table located in the Stevens Atrium when you arrive. There you will be able to pick up a pocket schedule, name tag and lanyards, and get any other information you may need. You will also be able to purchase a family weekend t-shirt at check in. (supplies limited)

Football tickets can be purchased at the gate or online and theatre tickets are available through their webpage.

Registration check-in will be set up on the first floor of Stevens Center Friday, Oct.22, from noon-6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8–11 a.m.

8:15 a.m.

Fridays at Fox

Friday @ Fox offers the most in terms of showing you what makes Fox such a special place. Mingle with faculty and current students, attend a class of your choice, and learn about our majors. You'll hear about our financial aid and admissions processes, meet with your admissions counselor, and hear about opportunities outside the classroom. This is a great opportunity for high school aged siblings of our current students to join you for the weekend and explore how to make Fox their own!

Parent Prayer

Take a moment to gather together for a time of parent prayer while students are finishing classes for the day. Campus pastoral staff will lead this time of guided prayer for students, our community, and beyond.

Attend Academic Classes

Our faculty have opened up their classrooms for families to visit and see what their students’ education really looks like. Enjoy hearing dynamic lectures and explore what makes our school one of the best in Christian higher education.

Academic Resources Open House

Join Learning Support Services on Friday, October 22, from 1-5 p.m. for a drop-in open house. Have some coffee and a snack while you learn about the academic support available to your students from the Academic Resource Center and Disability & Accessibility Services:

  • Academic coaching for time management, procrastination, and organization

  • Consultations on writing papers

  • Accommodations for physical, learning, or mental health conditions

  • Subject area tutoring and study groups

  • Your student could earn some extra money tutoring others!

Theatre Presentation: Much Ado About Nothing

On their way home from the wars, Don Pedro, Benedict, Claudio and their men stop for respite at Leonato’s home in Messina. There Claudio falls in love with Leonato’s daughter, Hero, while Benedict continually gets into verbal spats with Hero’s cousin, Beatrice. In order to pass the time before Hero and Claudio get married, the entire villa contrives to trick Benedict and Beatrice into falling in love with each other, too. Unfortunately, Don Pedro’s villainous brother has other plans. Will love prevail or will chaos descend on the community … or both? Join us for one of Shakespeare’s most celebrated comedies of wit, deception and reconciliation.

Yoga with Amelia

Join Amelia Wentz, one of our amazing group fitness instructors on campus as she guides us through an easy yoga class. Yoga is one of the most popular group fitness classes here on campus. Masks must be worn for the duration of this class.

Self Defense with Mason

Taught by Mason Bertrand, one of our amazing group fitness instructors. Learn some basic beginning self defense skills with your student! Masks must be worn for the duration of this class.

Hoffman Farms

Go on a family adventure to our featured farm, Hoffman Farms! Their farm features an authentic pumpkin patch (pick your pumpkin directly out of the field!) and over 20 varieties of pumpkins for you to choose from! Take the scenic route and pull a red wagon down to the field and take in the glory of the scenic Scholls Valley. *Access via wheelchair is off-road but not extremely rugged.

University Recreation Open Gym 

Get that morning workout in with your student in the Hadlock Student Center, offering 4,200 square feet of space filled with cardiovascular and strength training equipment. The gyms will be open for basketball, you can walk the indoor track, or observe campus and the canyon while working out on all of the weight and cardio equipment.

Tailgate Party

Order a tailgate meal from Bon Appetit or purchase a meal from the food truck vendors at the tailgate party before the football game. Student Activities will be hosting a "trunk or treat" featuring our George Fox Community and don’t miss a chance to meet Pennington Bear, and see a special pregame performance from our cheerleaders, drumline, and dance team!

The Dance team will be collecting unwrapped toys for all ages for a toy drive partnering with Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.  *New Opportunity*

Cornhole Tournament

 

Join in our inaugural Cornhole Tournament and bring your “A game”. Play as a family or vs. your student and their roomates. Student sign ups will take place through intermurals. Prizes will be given to our first, second, and third place winners!
