Doctor of Business Administration

The Doctor of Business Administration degree is designed for business professionals who wish to enhance their careers as university professors, executives or consultants. Students gain expertise in a variety of business disciplines, with a unique focus on the integration of Christian faith and ethics into instruction and practice.

Students in the program complete a business core, research core and education core that includes a teaching practicum. In addition, students choose an accounting, management or marketing concentration for in-depth study.

Choose between three concentrations:

  • Accounting concentration (includes seminar in Accounting, Advanced Applications of Ethical Reasoning and Compliance in Accounting, and Advanced Topics in Accounting)
  • Management concentration (includes courses Organizational Theory and Behavior, Human Resource Development, and Strategic Management)
  • Marketing concentration (includes courses Research Design in Marketing, Advanced Topics in Marketing, and Seminar in Consumer Behavior)

Designed for the working professional

  • 56-credit-hour program
  • Online classes and web-enhanced hybrid courses
  • Two on-site sessions in Oregon per year

To qualify for the program, you must have appropriate work experience.

Higher Education Job Prospects

Many universities require business faculty to hold a PhD, doctor of management or doctor of business administration to advance in their academic career. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the demand for postsecondary teachers is expected to grow by 15 percent between 2016 and 2026 .
