Labs, Demonstrations & Presentations
The Science Outreach Program has had the pleasure of partnering with over 25 schools and 1,000+ students this year. Thank you for letting us serve you!
We are no longer taking requests for fall 2024. You may fill out a request for spring 2025 using the link below. Please know that we are currently in a transition period and availability of custom labs is limited this year. We thank you for your patience.
Custom Presentation or Lab Requests
The Science Outreach Program (SOP) may be able to accommodate special requests at your location or on the George Fox campus. If you have an idea for a lab or presentation topic, or to request one of our services below, please complete the activity request form.
Star Lab Planetarium Presentation
The Star Lab is a portable planetarium that can be brought to your location. It can accommodate up to 35 people at a time and requires a space of at least 21 feet by 21 feet with a ceiling height of at least 14 feet. At least 45 minutes is required for both set-up and take-down. A standard mileage fee will be charged to reimburse travel costs in addition to fees to pay George Fox student assistants. Please note that the dome may not be accessible to persons with disabilities.
Human Cadaver Labs
The university's biology department houses two human cadavers that are made available for visiting high school programs at the end of each semester. Requesting teachers are expected to guide this portion of the lab. George Fox teaching assistants may be requested at the current student employment rate. Organ specimen stations may also be set up for students to observe a brain, muscles, heart, sense organs, kidneys (pig), lungs, skin, liver, bones and fetuses.
Our lab can accommodate up to 24 students at a time. Larger groups may want to split time between our VR lab or a campus tour.
Virtual Reality Lab
Our Virtual Reality lab can accommodate up to 24 students. Students will experience an immersive self-discovery exploration into human anatomy, allowing for the manipulation of bones, muscles, vessels, organs and other anatomical structures using the VR app 3D Organon.
