Spiritual Life

Faith in Jesus
is central to the educational experience at George Fox University. As part of that commitment, we offer chapel services that are spiritually nourishing, small-group opportunities to build relationships, and an abundance of other experiences designed to encourage your faith.

Opportunities to Grow

We offer several different experiences each week. Our large-group chapels meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:50 a.m. in Bauman Auditorium, and we host First Wednesday Worship services on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium.

In addition to these large-group gatherings, we also offer small-group Bible studies (Life Groups), service experiences and other activities that you can participate in to receive spiritual life credit.

Spiritual Life Credit

As an undergraduate student, you must earn 15 spiritual life credits (SpiL credits) per semester. If you average one SpiL credit per week, you’re on track to fulfill your spiritual life credits requirement each semester!

For those who have completed 90 academic credit hours prior to the beginning of the semester (senior standing), SpiL credits are a strongly recommended, but optional, experience.

Students are required to attend at least 10 chapels on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and our monthly First Wednesday Worship services. The remaining five can be earned through the various other options we offer, including watching digital chapels in the iAttended app.

You’ll find a comprehensive list of spiritual life credit opportunities on our chapel webpage, in the Daily Bruin e-newsletter, and on our @gfuspil Instagram account.

It is our sincere hope and prayer that our students experience the love of Jesus Christ at George Fox in everything we do. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we may be of support to you.

Peace be with you,

The University Pastors
