Request George Fox Library Materials
Print Books, Other Media (CDs, DVDs, etc.)
Patrons with active library accounts can request physical materials to be picked up at the Front Desk of the Murdock Library in Newberg or delivered to their home address (see our Circulation Policies for details on what may be requested and by whom). This applies to material currently on the shelf as well as to materials currently checked out.
To place a request, locate the item in Primo, make sure that you are logged in to your library account, and select the “Request” link. Fill in the form that opens and click the Request button. If you choose to pick up your material at the Murdock Library, you will receive an email notification when your request is ready for pickup.
Chapter and Article Scans
Many of our articles and books are available online, but we are also happy to assist current students, faculty, administrators and staff with scans of articles or chapters that are only available in print in our collection. To request an article or chapter scan from material in the George Fox University Library collections, use the Interlibrary Loan Form. Materials will be scanned within one to three days. Patrons will receive an email notification when scans are available in the ILL system.
Request Summit Materials
Summit is a free, fast borrowing service that allows you to request books, DVDs and other physical items from academic libraries in the Pacific Northwest. All George Fox students and employees may request materials via Summit. Items typically arrive in three to five days, which is much faster than Interlibrary Loan.
To find Summit materials, make sure you are searching Primo for “GFU + Summit” or “Everything.” To place a request from an item record, make sure that you are logged in to your library account, select “Place Summit Request,” and fill out the resulting form. If you choose to pick up materials at the Murdock Library (rather than having them mailed to your home), you will receive a notification when your request is available for pickup.
Request Materials via Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan service is provided when George Fox University faculty, staff and currently enrolled students need materials outside of the collections of George Fox and our Summit partner institutions. Current George Fox students and employees may request print books, journal articles and microfilm from other libraries across the country.
Unlike other request options, the timing and fulfillment of ILL requests is entirely according to the lending library. The George Fox Library will work to fill all requests but cannot guarantee availability of material. The delivery time for ILL requests will also vary based on availability and the staffing levels of lending institutions. Typically, print items arrive in one to two weeks, and electronic journal articles are faster. Note that lending libraries set the length of the loan, so some materials may be due sooner than others. Renewals may be requested, but must be granted by the lending institution.
