Mission Statement
To foster lifelong connections in the alumni community and encourage mutually beneficial lifetime support among alumni, the university, and its mission.
Purpose of Alumni Board
The purpose of the Alumni Association and its board of directors shall be to strive for the advancement of George Fox University, to advise and assist the work of the university management through mutually beneficial relationships with alumni, and to promote the Christian faith and lifestyles with which the university is identified.
Membership on the board is a privilege, and prospective members must complete the application process to be considered for membership.
Board members are actively engaged alumni and participate in the following ways:

Communication Ambassadors
- Amplify what is happening at George Fox University within their sphere of influence
- Reflect the alumni perspective back to George Fox University
- Stay informed on the current state of affairs at the university

Champions of Engagement
- Support, create and promote ways for alumni to stay connected
- Oversee the alumni awards process and help execute the awards ceremony

Volunteer to Support Student Success
- Promote student success in the areas of career development, mentoring, internships, and racial diversity
- Support and attend events that are run through departments and affinity groups

Help Create a Culture of Philanthropy
- Support the university by contributing to the Student Fund on an annual basis
- Advocate for giving among fellow alumni and friends of the university
Annual Responsibilities
- Be actively engaged during board meetings, prepare beforehand, and provide feedback to the alumni director
- Volunteer at two events on campus (Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, commencement)
- Organize and execute one affinity event a year (individually or with a committee)
Board Criteria
- Must be an alumnus/alumna (anyone who has 30 credits from the traditional undergraduate program or who graduated from the ADP and graduate programs)
- Talk openly and positively about George Fox University to others in all spheres, especially the alumni community
- Exemplify George Fox’s mission as a person of thought, character and faith
- Willing and able to attend six alumni board meetings each year
- Must be able to attend in-person meetings and volunteer on campus
- Cover travel and housing costs related to alumni board meetings
Length of Term
Board members serve for three-year terms, and may serve no more than two consecutive terms (See Constitution for details.) Terms run July 1 to June 30 of each year.
Alumni Board Meetings
The alumni board meets four to six times per year, both virtually and in person. Participation in person is required for board membership.
