Lighting
Geared toward high school teachers and staff, this hands-on interactive course in theatrical lighting will explore principles of lighting design as well as technical skills and production techniques. Time will be spent on hanging, focusing, circuiting and troubleshooting equipment, as well as setting up DMX control systems and programming cues.

Scenic Construction
Geared toward high school teachers and staff, this hands-on interactive course in scenic construction will explore the tools, materials and techniques commonly used in building and handling scenery for live theatre. Through a series of hands-on creative projects, participants will explore a variety of types of stock scenic units (flats and platforms) as well as experiment with free formed units like rocks, columns and trees. Throughout the course, participants will safely use all the tools in a typical scene shop and will learn professional practices and tricks of the trade that they can take back to their home schools and theatres.

James Farmer
Sunset High School
As a theatre teacher with an acting/directing background looking to beef up my technical chops, this institute provided the exact professional development opportunity that I’ve been looking for. I was very impressed with the facility and the level of instruction. I will definitely participate in any and all future courses.
